Who are we

Many of you first timers to the website may already know who we are. But, for those who have no idea who or what MUNA Youth is, let’s break it down to the basics. MUNA Youth is an organization that is a department of MUNA – Muslim Ummah of North America – an organization founded in July of 1990 at Long Island’s Hofstra University. MUNA Youth is, in essence, the child of MUNA. With the basic fundamentals of MUNA, MUNA Youth became an active youth organization that thrives throughout this nation – from the snowy corridors of the East Coast to the warm beaches of the West Coast. MUNA Youth is comprised of active youth members who participate in weekly programs to rejuvenate their faith and peacefully practice Islam.

MUNA Youth is an organization that is completely organized, conducted, and promoted by the youth. The youth are the future of any organization. As the future slowly dawns upon us, each and every day, MUNA Youth is a caravan of hope. As a vehicle of hope, MUNA Youth works toward developing a cohort of individuals who are the spiritual, moral, academic, professional, and the social fibers of young American-Muslims and their families regardless of ethnicity.

MUNA Youth is not merely an organization, but to many of the youth, it is a second family. MUNA Youth’s efforts to create a sense of brotherhood/sisterhood amongst the youth have succeeded beyond expectations. The members have created an unbreakable bond amongst one another that allows them to work happily together, despite the distance that separates them from each other. Now, to make one point clear, we the youth are American-Muslims. We face many of the same challenges that youth throughout the world are facing. We are not so different from one another. We just need to find that common ground that unites us together. MUNA Youth has provided that tangible place where young American-Muslims can come together and connect.

We are a group of youth who want to uplift the Islamic Spirit. We want to make a difference in our communities. Our work is local, but, when required, we are also ready to work globally. We are a group of youth who want to shatter the negative image portrayed about Islam in the media. We want to promote peace in the world. We are a group of youth who want to enjoin in what is right, and forbid that which is wrong.
